LEADER INFORMATION

Message from the President to all Ride Leaders - April 2010:
  Plan a Ride Event
In the past year TAB has made $2.00 per average rider count available to all ride leaders for post or pre ride socials.
Not all leaders use it but we will be offering this again this year, as the board has approved that we continue this practice.

So as a ride leader determine the average numbers of riders on your ride (from your sign in sheets).
Plan your event and make it known to the club via the Yahoo Group, the Newsletter and the Web site etc...
Keep track of the cost of the items you purchase.
After your event submit your expenses to Chuck Nicewonder at cyclistchuck@sbcglobal.net.
He will then reimburse you for your expenses up to $2.00 per rider.

  Ride Incentives/Tracking
Water bottles with a bright red and yellow TAB logo are still available for 2010 rides. A rider who completes 11 TAB rides may request socks instead if he/she doesn't yet have any. When all the socks are gone, each qualifying rider will receive a water bottle. Riders can earn more than one ride premium a year - every 11 rides!

New cards will soon be available where riders will keep track of their own TAB rides in order to qualify for a premium. On the honor system, each rider will mark the dates on which he/she rides, and then turn in the card to the ride leader when he/she completes 11 rides. The Board authorized payment of printing costs for these cards.

  Ride Captain
Jim House will serve as Ride Captain. He'll make sure that ride leaders have maps and sign-in sheets, all of which will soon be available on the web site. Jim will also assist with finding substitute ride leaders as needed, and will administer distribution of ride premiums.

  TAB Business Cards
Leaders should carry the new business-size cards with the TAB logo and website information to provide to anyone who expresses an interest in the club.

  Safety Rules
It was agreed that riders find it helpful when others call out "slowing," "stopping," "walker-up", "car back" or other pertinent information. This helps riders further back in the line realize that they should pay attention to what's coming.

Members agreed that calling "clear" at intersections should be done carefully, and only when it really is clear. Every cyclist still has to take responsibility to be sure that the road is still clear when he/she goes through. It helps for each successive rider to call clear. Riders talked about checking to make sure everyone has a chance to get through the intersection and to wait for those who don't.
