    Speedtrap Ride Tuesday July 18th

The Speedtrap Ride, the best Tuesday night ride out of Ottawa County, will roll out again tomorrow, Tuesday, July 18th, at 6:30 pm, from Spoke Life Cycles in Elmore, Ohio.

Scott Lang will lead the Ghost Pepper Riders. If you ride in his group, expect to average 22 – 23+ mph. Are you up to the challenge??!!

Bob Kayden will take out his Cayenne Pepper Riders, averaging 21 – 22 mph.

Doug Kilpatrick will not be available for the ride. A substitute leader will be needed for the Habanero Riders, who will likely average 20 – 21 mph.

David Barret, filling in for Todd Pollock who is away on Navy duty, will lead the Jalapeno Riders and will average anywhere from 16.5 to 19 mph.

I plan to ride out with the Sweet Pepper Riders, those who would like to ride at a more casual pace.

For ride time the temperature is predicted to be 80 degrees or in the upper 70s, with no chance of rain. The prediction for the wind is NNE 6 mph at 6:00, NNW 5 mph at 7:00, and East 4 mph at 8:00.

Pictured is regular Speedtrap Rider Dave Stoiber, as he appeared August 3, 2021, Dave returned to the ride last week after his mishap a few weeks ago.

The Speedtrap Ride is both a TAB ride and a Flatlanders Ride. It’s a great way to ride with some great people you might not regularly ride with! You’ll ride some quiet country roads, too! So come out to Elmore for something different.

Sign-in begins at 6:00 in front of the bike shop. I hope to see you then.

Speedtrap Ride Tuesday, July 11th recap

The Speedtrap Ride brought thirty-six hardy cyclists to Elmore Tuesday for a pleasant but windy evening of cycling.

Scott Lang ked the Ghost Pepper Riders and reported a riding average of 22.7 mph.

Bob Kayden had four riders in his Cayenne Pepper group and reported a 21.5 mph average.

Doug Kilpatrick led the Habanero Riders and came back with a 20.5 mph average.

Todd Pollock led ten Jalapeno Riders to an 18.3 mph average.

There were quite a few Sweet Pepper Riders, Claude Watkins from that group reported an average of 15.8 mph.

Although it was windy with wind speeds 10 mph plus, most riders were glad to have a westerly wind, providing a nice tailwind for most of the return-to-Elmore portion of the ride. This, after several weeks of east winds!

Welcome Dave Stoiber back to the Speedtrap Ride after his bike mishap a few weeks ago. He  night have a scar or two but thankfully no major injury!

Pictured are Dan and Gwen Waggoner on their tandem trike. Pictured in Flatlanders jerseys are Bryan Rose, Scott Lang, and Mike Grillis. Thank you Kathy Metzger for that photo. Thank you Todd Pollock for the photo of Jalapeno Riders on the road.

Please join us Tuesday, July 18th, for the next chapter of the Speedtrap Ride. The long-range forecast calls for a high temperature of 82 degrees, mostly sunny skies, less than a 15% chance of rain, and a west wind of 9 mph. Sign-in begins at 6:00 in front of the bike shop. I hope to see you then!

    Speedtrap Ride Tuesday July 11th

The Speedtrap Ride, one of America’s great Tuesday night rides, will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, July 11th. All hardy cyclists will leave Spoke Life Cycles in Elmore, Ohio, at 6:30 pm.

The weather appears to be favorable for riding: a temperature of 84 degrees, partly cloudy skies, and a 20 % chance of precipitation. However, best of all: a WSW wind of 11 mph! This should make a nice tailwind for most of the return-to-Elmore portion of the ride.

Scott Lang should be back to lead the Ghost Pepper Riders at 22 – 23+ mph.

Are you up to the challenge??!!

Bob Kayden will take out his Cayenne Pepper Riders at 21 – 22_ mph.

Doug Kilpatrick and his Habanero Riders will likely average 20 – 21+ mph.

Todd Pollock will lead his Jalapeno Riders at anywhere from 16 – 19 mph.

I plan to go out with the Sweet Pepper Riders. Averages are likely to be 15 – 16 mph.

Pictured is regular Speedtrap Rider Joe Bialecki, as he appeared June 14, 2022.

The Speedtrap Ride is both a TAB and a Flatlanders bike ride. It’s a great way to ride with some great folks you might not ordinarily ride with. You’ll ride some quiet country roads, too! Come out to Elmore and join the fun! Sign-in begins at 6:00 in front of the bike shop. I hope to see you then!

The Meanderer's are traveling this Saturday, July 8th!! We will meet in the back parking lot of the Fort Meigs YMCA in Perrysburg this week for a 38-mile route that will take us to BG before our return. We will roll at 8a with an average pace for the whole route falling somewhere between 13-15mph (rolling pace can get up to 17mph, but we ride at the pace needed to keep the group together). Bring hydration and a snack for our pit stop, but I'm hoping we will be able to take advantage of one of the local spots in BG if you might want to make a purchase. Hope you can join us this weekend!!
